STR is very particular about the quality of songs in his movies and he always turns to Yuvan for weaving magic. And they have never disappointed, the more recent example being Silambattam. The highlight of the music album of STR’s next movie Vaanam will be a song which has lyrics by both Yuvan and STR. Yes! The song which starts "Evandi unna pethan pethan... kaila kedacha sethan sethan...", has been sung by none other than STR himself. Sources inform that this song will definitely strike the right chord with the audience. Yuvan has also planned to release a song of Vaanam as a teaser for the album. Speculations are that the song may be released for Diwali. Get ready folks!

Vaanam's audio launch postponed!

Posted on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 | 0 comments
The Vaanam team is surely making headlines, but this around, not for all the right reasons.

Apparently, the much-hyped audio launch of Vaanam, which was initially scheduled to take place in London yesterday, got postponed.

Reason? A 20- member team comprising the lead cast and technicians including special invitees Gautham Menon and Trisha were supposed to fly from Chennai on Friday night. But some of the members of the team were denied visa by the British Consulate on the day of travel. Producer Ganesh, who spearheaded the entire tour plan, is now working out another date to launch the audio in a grand manner.

Vaanam Audio not launched

Posted on Monday, October 18, 2010 | 0 comments
The big event which is supposed to have happened today in London has not happened. The audio launch of ‘Vaanam’ was touted to be a mega event with the entire cast walking the red carpet on that day.

Anushka, Bharath, Vega and Sonia Agarwal along with Yuvan Shankar Raja, director Krish were expected to fly to London. Silambarasan is already in London shooting for ‘Podaa Podi. To hike the star value of the event Trisha was also to join them.

Now the sudden cancellation of the event has disappointed the fans of Silambarasan and others in London. The reason for the cancellation of the event is said to be some visa problems. Sources say some members of the party were denied visas by the British High Commission in Chennai.

They are working out to solve the problem. The planning team is working out another date which will be suitable for all of them.

Vaanam Audio Launch in London

Posted on Friday, October 15, 2010 | 0 comments

Vaanam producer Ganesh is planning to launch the Vaanam audio launch in London. He is planning to make audio launch as a very big event. Earlier Ganesh and Gautham launched the audio of VTV in London, a memorable event which got huge attention by media.

Ganesh produced the movie Vaanam and he wants the movie to be the one of the biggest hits of the year. We knew from the sources that A.R Rahman is also attending this event. The multi starrer movie is directed by Krish which has Silambarasan, Bharath, Prakash Raj, Anushka, Sonia Agarwal and Vega in the lead roles. Music director of the movie is Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Looks like it has become a trend in Kollywood to have audio launches abroad, the recent examples being Endhiran’s audio launch in Malaysia and Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya’s launch in London. The latest to join the bandwagon is Vaanam, remake of the Telugu hit Vedham.

We all know the combination of Yuvan- Simbu. Simbu being the hero of Vaanam and Yuvan Shankar Raja being the music director of Vaanam, the team has decided to release a single, a music score sung by Simbu himself.

The audio launch of Vaanam will be on October 15 and it will a unique one, informs the producer Ganesh.

Yuvan too has confirmed this news online. He had recently tweeted, “We are planning to release the track from Vaanam this month as a single. This single will be out on October 15. It’s sung by Simbu and will top the charts for sure.”

Vaanam is a multi-starer project with commercial elements in it and is directed by Krish. The star cast includes Simbu, Anushka, Bharath, Vega, Prakash Raj, Saranya, Jayaprakash, Sonia Agarwal and Ganesh himself.

I’m sure the film will have repeat audience. The story evolves around five people, who meet in the climax of the film, due to unforeseen circumstances. We are planning for a December release,” reports the producer Ganesh.

“This one’s going to be one rocking album!Yuvan has churned out some scintillating compositions and I’m sure they will rock the charts.” informs producer turned actor Ganesh of Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya Simbu's friend fame. “The audio launch of Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya was a great success in London and we are just planning to cash in on the trend,” adds Ganesh, who had also co-produced  Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya.

Vaanam Reaches the Climax

Posted on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 | 0 comments
The shooting of Vaanam, the Simbu and Bharath multi-starrer, is nearing the climax. Literally! Director Krish has already finished filming the portions involving different actors in the movie. Since the plot revolves around the conjuncture of five characters in the climax, it is quite a task to acquire the dates of all the actors. According to sources, only a few scenes and the climax remain to be filmed.

Vaanam has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and he along with Simbu, will be releasing a single track for the promotional agenda on October 15. The film's producer VTV Ganesh is also planning to premiere the movie in London. Vaanam is expected to be released during the last week of November or by first week of December.

Director Krish is busy with work for his upcoming movie "Vaanam". Starring STR and Bharath, Vaanam has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. STR, who usually makes sure that songs are special in his movies, has been working overtime with Yuvan for the songs of Vaanam. Yuvan had earlier said that the songs of the movie have come out well. The latest on Vaanam is that the team is planning to release a single track this month as a feeler for the movie. The single track will ensure that enough interest is created among movie buffs.

The track, sung by STR, will be released on October 15, 2010. Recently, the cast and crew were introduced to the media in a press meet in Chennai. Vaanam is a remake of the Telugu hit movie Vedham.

‘Vaanam will break the Barriers’ – STR

Posted on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 | 0 comments
Bollywood often welcomes Mutli-starrer scripts, but often it is absent in Tamil film industry. Precisely because the egoistic clashes between the fans and on contrary will be ‘Vaanam’. The film offers substantialities for all the characters. Indeed, Bharath will have much prominence and powerful characterization as Simbhu and so will be for Prakash, Sonia Agarwal and other characters.

The entire team of ‘Vaanam’ was present herein Chennai interacting with media channels about the film. Said STR:’I used to watch all the films of Allu Arjun  at Casino Theatre and this time for ‘Vedam’, I was accompanied by producer Ganesh sir. We were spellbound watching this movie and instantly decided to remake it.”

The film is produced by Ganesh of VTV Productions and Ramesh of Idiot Box Company. Director Krish, who wielded megaphone for the original version handles the same task over here as well.

Anushka said that the characterization she has played will earn her more reputation. Bharath, who plays the role of rock star with ‘Pasanga’ fame Vega as his ladylove adds that the film will be a great milestone in his career.

This is the fourth time Simbhu and Yuvan Shankar Raja are coming together and Simbhu has rendered a romantic solo.

Simbu at Vaanam's Press Meet

"Do you want Anushka to stand next to me and check our heights?" asked actor Simbu  in jest, reacting to a question posed by a scribe on whether the 'height problem' proved to be an issue while shooting for Vaanam.
Interesting repartees like this were the highlight of a recent press meet held to introduce the cast and crew of Vaanam, a multi-starrer directed by Krish. Revealed Simbu, "I always watch Allu Arjun films on the day they release and Vedham was no exception. During the interval, I told producer Ganesh — who was watching the film with me — that this was one film that had to be made in Tamil. Soon, things fell in place and here we are, shooting the climax of the Tamil version!"

Krish, who directed the Telugu version as well, said, "Vedham started off as a small film and soon, became a multi-starrer with many big names joining in, thanks to Allu Arjun. Simbu has done in Tamil what Allu Arjun did in Telugu." Vaanam, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, also stars Bharath, Vega, Sonia Aggarwal and Prakash Raj.

I never refused Vaanam: Anushka

Posted on | 0 comments
She is a versatile actress and a true professional and that may be why Anushka is rated so high by the critics and loved so madly by her fans. Even after having established herself as a top actress with a huge fan following, Anushka hasn't allowed herself to get entrapped in an image dilemma that most stars find themselves in — a factor that has worked to her advantage big time.

After her spellbinding performance in Arundathi, which not only broke certain box-office records but also the myth that only heroes could bear the weight of an entire movie on their shoulders and ensure its success at the box office, the actress, in an admirable and daring move, chose to play the role of a sex worker in Vedham, a film made using five short stories with one common climax.

Her belief in the script and the director paid her rich dividends and more accolades came her way. Now, she is all set to do the same role again in Vaanam, the Tamil remake of Vedham. Says the pretty actress, "I'm playing in Vaanam the same character (Saroja) that I played in Vedham. When we did it in Telugu, it was a new venture, a multi-starrer and a different kind of a movie and even though we knew it was an amazing script we all had our inhibitions as to how people would take it. But we had a terrific response from the media and the audience. We are planning to put in a lot more in Vaanam. We are also looking to make it more commercial this time."

Question her as to how different the Tamil version is from the Telugu version and she replies, "I just started working on this project from Monday. The starcast is different but otherwise the version is the same."

Point out to her that this is a role that's controversial and one that stars would generally hesitate to choose, and pat comes the reply, "I don't see it as a controversial role at all. I just consider myself to be blessed to be able to do movies like Arundhathi, Billa and now Vaanam."

But what about her image? Doesn't she think this role will affect her image? Shoots back the actress, "Not at all. I feel that the whole thing about image is there only in the industry because your fans and the audience out there want you to experiment and come out with new roles and better performances."

There were reports that Anushka had refused to be a part of the project initially. Draw her attention to these reports and she dismisses them outright saying, "Oh, they were nothing but rumours. At no point did I refuse to be a part of this project."

Finally, ask her why is it that she isn't to be seen in press conferences held in Chennai as often as she is seen in Hyderabad and she replies, "I'm shooting for several Telugu movies because of which I'm tied up almost every day. However, when I have free time, I definitely give interviews and I'm there to promote my movies at the time of their release."

Yuvan ensures Musical Treat!

Posted on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 | 0 comments
STR, though unwell, takes a lot of effort to ensure his movies have the best possible inputs. After arriving from London, STR went straight to the sets of Vaanam to complete his commitments. Vaanam, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, also stars Bharath and Prakash Raj. STR is always keen about the songs of his movie which is why he always chooses Yuvan with whom he shares a great rapport.

The latest on the music for Vaanam is that Simbhu stayed very late in Yuvan's studio to compose the songs of Vaanam and seems to be ecstatic about the outcome. STR has no doubts that Vaanam will be a musical treat to the audience, inform sources.

Silambarasan resumes ‘Vaanam’

Posted on Monday, September 27, 2010 | 0 comments
Silambarasan – the busiest bee is vigorously shooting for more projects at the same time. 6 months after the release of ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’, the actor started filming ‘Vaanam’, a remake of Telugu movie ‘Vedam’ and simultaneously kick-started his long awaited film ‘Poda Podi’ in London. Now as both the films have completed the first schedule, the actor has signed a new project titled ‘Vettai Mannan’.

Director Krish had completed the portions pertaining to Silambarasan in ‘Vaanam’ nearly before a month. During his absence, the filmmaker shot more sequences involving other actors that include Bharath, Sonia Agarwal, Prakash Raj and Anushka.

Now as the actor has flown back from London, he has resumed the shooting of ‘Vaanam’. The shooting started this morning and the scenes involving Simbhu and Anushka is being shot.

Yuvan Shankar Raja will score music for both the films ‘Vaanam’ and ‘Vettai Mannan’.

STR's Recovery

Posted on | 0 comments
STR is back in action after a bout of fever. The actor had to call off the shooting of Vaanam after he caught a viral infection. However, STR recovered fast and was seen on the sets of Vaanam. The team initially planned to begin the second schedule during mid-September but called off owing to STR’s illness.

Meanwhile, Vaanam’s leading lady Anushka completed her other acting commitments to allocate time for this film. It is now reported that scenes involving STR and Anushka are being shot in and around Chennai.

Sad news for STR Fans

Posted on Thursday, September 23, 2010 | 0 comments
STR’s film Vaanam will not hit the marquee on Diwali, as planned earlier. There has been some delay in the project and hence the release has been postponed to November end or early December.

The reason for the delay was said to be Silambarasan’s busy schedule with Poda Podi and Anoushka’s call sheet issues as she was busy with a Telugu flick starring Nagarjuna.

Sonia Agarwal returns with ‘Vaanam’

Posted on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 | 0 comments
Divorce has not put Sonia Agarwal down. After separating from Selvaraghavan, Sonia was seen at all the major filmy events in good spirits. She also showed her interest to return to films during those times. First there was news from Kasthoori Raja that Sonia will be making her re-entry through one of his films. But now we have confirmed news saying Sonia Agarwal is homecoming with the upcoming film ‘Vaanam’ starring Silambarasan, Prakash Raj, Bharath, Anushka and Sneha Ullal.

In ‘Vaanam’, Sonia plays the wife of Prakash Raj. ‘Vaanam’ is the Tamil remake of the super hot Telugu film ‘Vedam’ directed by Krish. The Tamil version is also directed by Krish himself.  ‘Vaanam’ is many stories spun together beautifully. All the stars have equal screen space so Sonia is there to make an impact again. More over Sonia will have a song and more scenes than what was there for her role in the Telugu original.

Interestingly Sonia was approached for the same role when the original ‘Vedam’ was conceived. But she could not take it for private reasons. Sonia‘s last film in Tamil ‘Thiruttu Payale’ was three years ago and it was the biggest hit if that year.

Bharath injured in 'Vaanam' Shoot

Posted on Thursday, August 12, 2010 | 0 comments
Bharath who was shooting in Hyderabad for the multistarrer Vaanam was injured while doing a risky action scene without any dupe. In Vaanam , Bharath plays an aspiring rock star and after seeing the Telugu original Vedam, he just loved it and wanted to be a part this multistarrer in which he shares screen space with Silambarasan, Anushka and Sneha Ullal.

Bharath who joined the unit on August 6 was shooting an action scene where he jumped off a 40 feet cliff without any dupe. This gave him more confidence and he convinced director Krish that he will do the chasing scenes himself. In a scene where he comes opposite to a running jeep, he had to crash into the vehicle and break the glass. Bharath did the scene in the first take but cut his right hand badly that he was rushed to the hospital for first aid and came out with three stitches.

Later Bharath told “It was a mad rampage scene and though I ended up with stitches, it has come out so well that Krish and the entire unit were so happy. Now I am back in Chennai to take rest for two days before joining the Yuvan Yuvathi unit in Pollachi”

STR Completes Vaanam

Posted on Saturday, August 7, 2010 | 0 comments
Silambarasan has already completed the first schedule of Vaanam, our sources in Kollywood report. The second schedule involving the actor will begin in the first week of September. Meanwhile, with Bharath joining the Vaanam camp, scenes that involve him are being shot. The Vaanam team, which had trouble finding a leading lady for the stars, have finally zeroed in on Sneha Ullal. Vaanam, which is the remake of the Telugu blockbuster Vedam, is being directed by Krish. The music for this film will be scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Nirav Shah is wielding the camera for this venture.

Sneha Ullal joins for Vaanam

Posted on Thursday, July 22, 2010 | 0 comments
Again on Silambarasan. Silambarasan film 'Vaanam' is making the news from the launch date. One of the news was that Anushka refused to do the film with Silambarasan but finally agreed to do an item number. Another was Lingusamy accusing Silambarasan for delaying his film because Silambarasan has started to shoot for ‘Vaanam’ ahead of his film. Another was the debate over if Anushka had refused who will be the heroine of ‘Vaanam’. ‘Vaanam’ is the Tamil remake of super hit Telugu film 'Vedam'

Silambarasan has got his heroine. He has chosen Sneha Ullal to be his heroine in ‘Vaanam’. Sneha Ullal was introduced by Salman Khan in Hindi after he broke up with Aishwarya Rai. The only reason Salman had to launch Sneha Ullal was that she looked like Aishwarya. But her career in Hindi was a flop and so like all drop outs she looked towards south. In Telugu she is doing fairly well. Sneha Ullal is one of the heroines of the recent Telugu box office hit 'Simha' starrig Balakrishna.

Now she is coming to Kollywood through Silambarasan. Sneha Ullal plays the sex worker role played by Anushka in the original. STR and Sneha Ullal will start shooting their portions from July 24 in Chennai.

Bharath joins Vaanam!

Posted on Sunday, July 18, 2010 | 0 comments
Actor Bharath  seems to be a busy man these days. Apart from shooting in full swing for Perarasu's Thiruthani and GNR Kumaravel's Yuvan Yuvathi, the actor has now landed a plump role in the Simbu- Anushka starrer Vaanam, directed by Krish.

The film is a remake of the hit Telugu film Vedam by the same director and had Allu Arjun, Manoj Manchu and Anushka in the lead. According to reports, Anushka and Manoj were to reprise their roles in the Tamil version as well, with Simbu playing the lead instead of Allu Arjun.

But actor Simbu, who's in Mumbai, recording for his Podaa Podi, had tweeted, "Manoj is not able to do the role, it's going to be Bharath." Sources close to the unit also confirmed the news saying Bharath will be joining the unit in August.

Bharath in ‘Vaanam’ with Silambarasan

Posted on Saturday, July 17, 2010 | 0 comments
The calls for multi starrer movies in Tamil are being taken seriously and two young super stars have belled the cat. Silambarasan and Bharath are the innovative young stars who have turned a new leaf in the history of contemporary Tamil cinema.

Bharath has agreed and been signed as the other hero in the recently launched movie ‘Vaanam’ which has Silambarasan playing one of the lead roles. ‘Vaanam’ is the Tamil remake of the much acclaimed Telugu film ‘Vedam’. Apparently it was Silambarasan who had called Bharath to do the role played by Manoj in the original Telugu version. A happy Bharath says he loved ‘Vedam’ and so immediately agreed when Silambarasan called.

With the young guns showing the way will the industry change for the better? Even biggies like Sarath Kumar, Arya have recommended multi starrer films to bring back the people to theatres. ‘Vaanam’ started rolling from last week has Anushka playing the female lead. The film is directed by Krish. Nirav Shah is the cameraman and Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music director.

Anushka is not Simbu’s heroine in ‘Vaanam’!

Posted on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 | 0 comments
When a lot of buzz is going on Simbu’s new project ‘Vaanam’  which was launched a few days back and also about the heroine who is going to pair with him in this film, there is a new story among some other film sources that Anushka is not the heroine in the film and she is only doing an item number in the film.

‘Vaanam’ is the remake of latest Telugu hit film ‘Vedam’ that has Allu Arjun, Manoj Manchu, Anushka, Manoj Bajpai, Lekha Washington and others in the lead roles which is directed by Krish. The Tamil version is produced by B Ramesh and ‘VTV’ Ganesh and will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Sources also say that Anushka first refused to do the same character in Tamil version but Tamil versions requested her at least to do an item number in the film. Anushka who is not interested to that also has demanded the producer’s huge amount thinking of that they will reject her but as they agreed to pay the amount, no option has left for Anushka and agreed to do the item song.

Then there arises a question that if Anushka is not Simbu’s heroine who will be getting that role? Stay tuned for detailed announcements very shortly.

Cable Raja on duty from Today!

Posted on Saturday, July 10, 2010 | 0 comments
Simbu is turning into a cable guy for his new film Vaanam, the shooting for which commenced yesterday in the city.

It has taken Kollywood by surprise as he was to start shooting for Poda Podi in London from the first week of July. In an exclusive interview to CT, Simbu says, “Yes, I have started shooting for Vaanam, which is the remake of the critically-lauded Telugu hit Vedam.”

Vedam, said to be a path-breaking film in Telugu, had Allu Arjun, Manoj Manchu (actor Mohan Babu’s son), Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpai, Anushka and Lekha Washington in the lead. The film follows the pattern set by Mexican director Alejandro Gonsalez Inarritu’s classic Amores Perros (2000) in style, a multiple storytelling format where all the stories converge in the climax.

Simbu felt that the Telugu film would be a viable proposition in Tamil too. Says the star, “I was impressed by it, especially Allu Arjun’s characterisation. After VTV, I thought this role will be ideal as the character has mass appeal. At the same time, multiplex audiences will also love it. I also wanted to do something as my other projects were getting delayed due to various factors and it is almost 145 days since I shot for a film.”

However, the grapevine has it that Simbu is doing the film only because he is smitten by Anushka. Vaanam gives him an opportunity to work with the elusive actress. Simbu smiles, “I have always said that I’m a big fan of Anushka and would love to work with her. I took up the film as the script is good. The A team of technicians from Kollywood — Yuvan Shankar Raja, Antony and Nirav Shah — are working on this project. Also, one of the producers is my friend Ganesh of VTV fame.”

The star has given continuous dates to director Krish till the end of the month to complete his part in the film. And the big news is that there will be a mass kuthu song (not there in the original version) picturised on Simbu and Anushka. The movie will be a ‘quickie’ and release of Diwali. Post Vaanam, the hero will leave for the shoot of Poda Podi and start work on Lingusamy’s film in September.
