‘Vaanam will break the Barriers’ – STR

Bollywood often welcomes Mutli-starrer scripts, but often it is absent in Tamil film industry. Precisely because the egoistic clashes between the fans and on contrary will be ‘Vaanam’. The film offers substantialities for all the characters. Indeed, Bharath will have much prominence and powerful characterization as Simbhu and so will be for Prakash, Sonia Agarwal and other characters.

The entire team of ‘Vaanam’ was present herein Chennai interacting with media channels about the film. Said STR:’I used to watch all the films of Allu Arjun  at Casino Theatre and this time for ‘Vedam’, I was accompanied by producer Ganesh sir. We were spellbound watching this movie and instantly decided to remake it.”

The film is produced by Ganesh of VTV Productions and Ramesh of Idiot Box Company. Director Krish, who wielded megaphone for the original version handles the same task over here as well.

Anushka said that the characterization she has played will earn her more reputation. Bharath, who plays the role of rock star with ‘Pasanga’ fame Vega as his ladylove adds that the film will be a great milestone in his career.

This is the fourth time Simbhu and Yuvan Shankar Raja are coming together and Simbhu has rendered a romantic solo.

Simbu at Vaanam's Press Meet

"Do you want Anushka to stand next to me and check our heights?" asked actor Simbu  in jest, reacting to a question posed by a scribe on whether the 'height problem' proved to be an issue while shooting for Vaanam.
Interesting repartees like this were the highlight of a recent press meet held to introduce the cast and crew of Vaanam, a multi-starrer directed by Krish. Revealed Simbu, "I always watch Allu Arjun films on the day they release and Vedham was no exception. During the interval, I told producer Ganesh — who was watching the film with me — that this was one film that had to be made in Tamil. Soon, things fell in place and here we are, shooting the climax of the Tamil version!"

Krish, who directed the Telugu version as well, said, "Vedham started off as a small film and soon, became a multi-starrer with many big names joining in, thanks to Allu Arjun. Simbu has done in Tamil what Allu Arjun did in Telugu." Vaanam, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, also stars Bharath, Vega, Sonia Aggarwal and Prakash Raj.

I never refused Vaanam: Anushka

She is a versatile actress and a true professional and that may be why Anushka is rated so high by the critics and loved so madly by her fans. Even after having established herself as a top actress with a huge fan following, Anushka hasn't allowed herself to get entrapped in an image dilemma that most stars find themselves in — a factor that has worked to her advantage big time.

After her spellbinding performance in Arundathi, which not only broke certain box-office records but also the myth that only heroes could bear the weight of an entire movie on their shoulders and ensure its success at the box office, the actress, in an admirable and daring move, chose to play the role of a sex worker in Vedham, a film made using five short stories with one common climax.

Her belief in the script and the director paid her rich dividends and more accolades came her way. Now, she is all set to do the same role again in Vaanam, the Tamil remake of Vedham. Says the pretty actress, "I'm playing in Vaanam the same character (Saroja) that I played in Vedham. When we did it in Telugu, it was a new venture, a multi-starrer and a different kind of a movie and even though we knew it was an amazing script we all had our inhibitions as to how people would take it. But we had a terrific response from the media and the audience. We are planning to put in a lot more in Vaanam. We are also looking to make it more commercial this time."

Question her as to how different the Tamil version is from the Telugu version and she replies, "I just started working on this project from Monday. The starcast is different but otherwise the version is the same."

Point out to her that this is a role that's controversial and one that stars would generally hesitate to choose, and pat comes the reply, "I don't see it as a controversial role at all. I just consider myself to be blessed to be able to do movies like Arundhathi, Billa and now Vaanam."

But what about her image? Doesn't she think this role will affect her image? Shoots back the actress, "Not at all. I feel that the whole thing about image is there only in the industry because your fans and the audience out there want you to experiment and come out with new roles and better performances."

There were reports that Anushka had refused to be a part of the project initially. Draw her attention to these reports and she dismisses them outright saying, "Oh, they were nothing but rumours. At no point did I refuse to be a part of this project."

Finally, ask her why is it that she isn't to be seen in press conferences held in Chennai as often as she is seen in Hyderabad and she replies, "I'm shooting for several Telugu movies because of which I'm tied up almost every day. However, when I have free time, I definitely give interviews and I'm there to promote my movies at the time of their release."

STR, though unwell, takes a lot of effort to ensure his movies have the best possible inputs. After arriving from London, STR went straight to the sets of Vaanam to complete his commitments. Vaanam, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, also stars Bharath and Prakash Raj. STR is always keen about the songs of his movie which is why he always chooses Yuvan with whom he shares a great rapport.

The latest on the music for Vaanam is that Simbhu stayed very late in Yuvan's studio to compose the songs of Vaanam and seems to be ecstatic about the outcome. STR has no doubts that Vaanam will be a musical treat to the audience, inform sources.

STR’s film Vaanam will not hit the marquee on Diwali, as planned earlier. There has been some delay in the project and hence the release has been postponed to November end or early December.

The reason for the delay was said to be Silambarasan’s busy schedule with Poda Podi and Anoushka’s call sheet issues as she was busy with a Telugu flick starring Nagarjuna.

Sonia Agarwal returns with ‘Vaanam’

Divorce has not put Sonia Agarwal down. After separating from Selvaraghavan, Sonia was seen at all the major filmy events in good spirits. She also showed her interest to return to films during those times. First there was news from Kasthoori Raja that Sonia will be making her re-entry through one of his films. But now we have confirmed news saying Sonia Agarwal is homecoming with the upcoming film ‘Vaanam’ starring Silambarasan, Prakash Raj, Bharath, Anushka and Sneha Ullal.

In ‘Vaanam’, Sonia plays the wife of Prakash Raj. ‘Vaanam’ is the Tamil remake of the super hot Telugu film ‘Vedam’ directed by Krish. The Tamil version is also directed by Krish himself.  ‘Vaanam’ is many stories spun together beautifully. All the stars have equal screen space so Sonia is there to make an impact again. More over Sonia will have a song and more scenes than what was there for her role in the Telugu original.

Interestingly Sonia was approached for the same role when the original ‘Vedam’ was conceived. But she could not take it for private reasons. Sonia‘s last film in Tamil ‘Thiruttu Payale’ was three years ago and it was the biggest hit if that year.
